If you’re like me you’ve been wondering why Google offered up push/instant syncing between Calendar and Contacts but Gmail was left out. On top of that push Gmail has always been available on the Android platform. That leaves the question: WHAT TOOK THEM SO LONG!
Regardless of the reason the wait is over, you can now be instantly notified of new mail on your iPhone and it’s fairly simple to set up. If you already have Google Sync configured on your phone all you need to do is goto Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Your Google Sync Account, then turn on the Mail option.
For those of you who have not yet set up Google Sync, no worries! It’s easy to get started just visit the Google Sync site and they walk you through the process.
